Fair Play At H.Q.

Last week I visited three of the UK’s iconic sports venues on three consecutive days, to share thoughts on Playing to Win in Today’s VUCAA World.
- Tuesday May 12th: Twickenham, the Allianz Stadium – home of the Rugby Football Union.
- Wednesday May 13th: The Etihad – no need to say more.
- Thursday May 14th: The Theatre of Dreams – the Salford home of the No. 4 team in England.
We kicked off at Twickenham – with Bob Reeves’ / Nigel Wray’s 20 year old Foundation for Leadership in Sport – an amazing network of Sport, Business and Military leaders.
The topic was ‘Fair Play and Sportsmanship’ (now almost extinct in most areas of endeavour!). Jonathan Duke-Evans set the scene and provided a historical context alongside his views on where we’re at today.
And I was given free rein by Bob and his team to let rip. My theme was Playing to Win, my references were Winston Churchill, Vince Lombardi, The All Blacks, Procter & Gamble, US/UK/NZ Special Forces and Pep Guardiola! (That’ll give you a taste of my views on the topic!)

The delegates included journalists, broadcasters, elite sportsmen, international referees, leaders from companies big and small, Army leadership professionals and academics.
A truly eclectic group.
We had fun. Even if it may not have been very fair or sporting!!!
