The Sonoran Desert is blooming – and our courtyard haven is growing lush, fertile and green.  This morning we were visited by a loving couple of Rosy Faced Lovebirds.  Two escapees originally from southwest Africa flourish in our part of Arizona, making their homes inside the native cacti.  (As they aren’t local, they can’t extract water from cactus fruits, so they’ve adapted now by seeking out cooler microsites – our air-conditioning vents and our bird water-feeder.)

Last year we were adopted by six of these beautiful, social, chirpy parrots – hopefully they’ll all be back again soon.
