Let’s WOOP Again!

Two years ago (KRC February 11, 2022), I shared Gabriele Oettingen’s WOOP theory on this blog.  I’ve been using it ever since with companies and individuals.  It’s a great, focused process for bringing Dreams to Life and making them actionable – professionally and personally.

WOOP Goals

WOOP goals refer to a goal-setting technique based on the WOOP framework, which stands for Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, and Plan.  This method helps individuals create effective and actionable goals.  Here’s what each component of WOOP represents:

Wish

Clearly define your desired outcome or wish.  It should be a challenging and meaningful goal that you want to achieve.

Outcome

Visualise the best possible outcome associated with your goal.  Imagine how achieving the goal will make you feel and the positive impact it will have on your life.

Obstacles

Identify the potential obstacles or barriers that might prevent you from achieving your goal.  Be honest and realistic about the challenges you may face along the way.

Plan

Develop a specific and detailed plan to overcome the obstacles.  Determine actionable steps you can take and strategies you can implement to navigate through challenges.

By following the WOOP goal-setting process, you can create goals that are inspiring, realistic, and equipped with strategies to overcome obstacles, increasing your chances of success.
