I spent many childhood weekends and Summer holidays in the Lake District – an hour away from my Lancaster home.  And we’ve had a beautiful home in my favourite village, Grasmere, for over a decade now.  Which? magazine ranked the top 100 villages in the UK for food and drink, tourist attractions, scenery attractiveness, shopping, peace and quiet and value for money.

Grasmere was 5^th, and neighbouring villages Cartmel 10^th, Keswick 18^th with Ambleside also in the top 50.  Four villages in a 20 mile radius – all worth a visit nearby, with Hawkshead and Windermere in the top 100 too.  More Michelin starred restaurants than any region outside London, the best scenery in the UK, great local shopping (Herdy, Booths) and great local beers and brands.  Come up and see us for the best walking, climbing, dining and living in the UK – and watch the trees turning orange and brown – with no crowds – this month and next.
